Welcome to Mr. McDowell's classroom blog. I am very excited to have a classroom webpage and I hope that you will find it useful. The purpose of this blog is to provide a convenient (and reliable) communication link between students, parents, the school and Mr. McDowell. Classroom News - Nov. 30

Happy Monday!

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of another month of school.  Where has the time gone!?!?

Please return the report card envelope (you can keep the actual report card), as well as the Term 1 "portfolio" binder.

Our 5/6ME class has chosen to add some "Holiday Cheer" to our school days for the month of December.  This Friday, Dec. 4 will be "Mad for Plaid" day - wear your best plaid shirt, pants, etc. 

Also, students have asked to have a 5/6ME Secret Santa.  This will be an optional activity for those who choose to participate.  The gifts will be exchanged on the last day of school (Friday, Dec. 18).  However, please return your gift idea by Monday, Dec. 14 (to allow for proper COVID procedures).  Lastly, please keep your costs between $8 - $10.  Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.  HO HO HO!

The Term 1 Report Cards were sent home today!  I encourage some reflective conversation about the previous few months, as well as goal-setting conversations for the months ahead!

Classroom News - Nov. 16

Happy Monday!

It was sure GREAT to see everyone back in the school today - happy and healthy!     

I hope everyone had a wonderful Remembrance Day long-weekend.

For those students who did not have the chance to finish up ALL of their online learning over the previous few weeks, our 5/6ME classroom spent most of the day today "tying any last minute strings".  

With Term 1 Report Cards coming this Friday, Nov. 20th, I have set tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 17) as the FINAL DAY of Term 1.  All Term 1 assignments/homework MUST be handed-in.  Those students who fail to meet this deadline may earn an "Insufficient Evidence" (IE) on their report card.

Classroom News - Nov. 10

And that's a wrap!

As I have said many times during this "online learning" experience....great job to everyone for all of your hard work and determination while working from home.  I know it hasn't been easy.  However, I think I speak for everyone when I say that I look forward to FINALLY being back in the classroom again!

Here are some reminders before we head into our Remembrance Day long-weekend:
- There will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 11, Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13.   
- If interested, please place your school picture orders by Monday, November 16th.  
- The deadline for ordering from the SCC School Clothing Fundraiser is Monday November 23rd.  
- Lastly, if you would like to design a cover page for the next yearbook, please submit your design to Ms. Knight by Friday, November 20.

For those students who did not have the chance to finish up ALL of their online learning, please try your best to get everything done over the next few days.  With Term 1 Report Cards coming next week (Friday, Nov. 20 to be exact), it would be GREAT to completely wrap up our first few months of learning by Monday, Nov. 16....at the latest.

Happy Monday!

Brrrr....it sure feels like winter suddenly!?!?

We are now into our final week of "online learning".  In fact, tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 10) is our last day....YAHOO!  In saying that, please go over today's Daily Agenda with your son/daughter.  Let's try to get ALL of our online learning finished up before our Remembrance Day long-weekend!   

Remembrance Day long weekend is coming soon!  There will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 11, Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13.

- If interested, please return your school picture orders by Monday, November 16th.  We will also be booking another Picture Retake Day - to be determined at a later date.

Classroom News - Nov. 6

As we wrap-up our first official week of online learning, I want to pass along a BIG "high five" to everyone for an AWESOME week.  Mrs. Erhardt and I are VERY proud of everyone!

As I said in the beginning of this journey, there are some obvious negatives about being away school and each other.  However, I think after this week, everyone would agree that there are a lot of positives too!  Keep up the GREAT WORK!

Here were some important items that came through our MC Knoll "Morning Announcements" this week, including:

- We have extended the deadline for returning your child’s picture orders.  Please return your orders by Monday, November 16th.  We will also be booking another Picture Retake Day - to be determined at a later date.
- Attached to the morning announcements is an SCC clothing fundraiser.  Deadline for ordering is Monday November 23rd.  Copies will also be sent home with youngest in the family.
- Ms. Knight is looking for students to design a cover page for the yearbook.  If you are interested, please submit your design to Ms. Knight by Friday, November 20th.  You should include the following:  M.C. Knoll School or Knights, 2020-2021, our school colours, relevant information that represents MCK.  Be creative!

Classroom News - Nov. 5

Here were some important items that came through our MC Knoll "Morning Announcements" today:

MC Knoll has been in contact with Lifetouch.  They will return at a later date for an extra picture retake day for our three classrooms that have been working remotely (and unable to be at school during the original picture retake day).  Once we have a date, we will let you know.
- Ms. Knight is looking for students to design a cover page for the yearbook.  If you are interested, please submit your design to Ms. Knight by Friday, November 20th.  You should include the following:  M.C. During today's Mr. McDowell Zoom, I went over "how to hand-in assignments to the Google Classroom".  Good news...most students have now problem solved how to do this properly!  Smooth sailing ahead...

Classroom News - Nov. 3

Happy Tuesday!

It was WONDERFUL to see everyone today at our first Zoom meetings.  I know it is not our ideal classroom, but it is "our classroom" - and one that we will work hard in and try our best!  

Also, don't be shy to ask for help - from Mrs. Erhardt, Mr. McDowell, Mrs. Bymak and your classmates.  Remember...we are in this together!
