WELCOME!!!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Mr. McDowell's classroom blog. I am very excited to have a classroom webpage and I hope that you will find it useful. The purpose of this blog is to provide a convenient (and reliable) communication link between students, parents, the school and Mr. McDowell. I invite you to check this blog on a daily basis as I will be posting valuable information about the classroom and the school - including daily homework assignments, important dates, classroom/school news, etc.

For your convenience, you can also sign-up to receive "daily updates" from this blog that automatically gets sent to your email every day there is a new posting. Simply type in your email address into the 'submit' box found on the right side of this blog.

More importantly, if you ever have any questions or concerns about your son/ daughter, please do not hesitate to contact me via phone, email, or this blog:

Classroom News - March 14

Happy Monday!

Term 2 Report Cards were distributed last week.  I'm hope the conversations went well - reflecting on the year so far - both the "good" parts...and bad - and setting goals for the remaining months ahead!

Speaking of setting goals, our student-led conferences will be Wednesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 17.  If you have any concerns about the times, please let me know ASAP.  For those who have contacted me about an alternative to "in person" interviews (ie: Zoom or phone interview), please refer to the following Zoom information:

McDowell's Zoom Meeting:

Meeting ID: 829 884 8248

Homework:
Math - Table of Values TEST (Tuesday, March 15)
ELA - Term 2 Conference Presentation (Wednesday, March 16)
ELA - Book Talk (Wednesday, March 30)

Reminders:
- Our Gr. 5-8 students at MC Knoll have the opportunity to enjoy a "day on the slopes" at Asessippi Ski Area Thursday, March 31.  An information package was sent home last week.  If interested in attending, please return the form and appropriate fees by Thursday, March 17.  Those students who choose to NOT attend the Asessippi ski trip, will enjoy a regular day at school instead.
- The ice fishing trip to Lake of the Prairies is scheduled for Friday, March 18 - morning (9:00 - 12:00) and/or afternoon (12:00-7:00).  Students MUST dress for appropriate outdoor weather - ski pants, jacket, toque and mitts, etc.  Students are also encouraged to bring some extra snacks, drinks and a coffee mug (for hot chocolate).  All ice-fishing equipment will be provided by the Yorkton Wildlife Federation.  Students are still welcome to bring their own equipment (if they have).  If any parents are interested in coming along for the day, please let me know ASAP.  YAHOO!
- Anyone interested in wearing some of the coolest clothing around - hoodies, long and short-sleeved T's, jogger and sweatpants - the MC Knoll Clothing Order is due by Friday, March 18.
